Wreath laying at Earley Memorial
The Irish United Nations Veterans Association will lay a wreath in honour of legendary Roscommon man the late Dermot Earley DSM on Friday 22nd of September.
The event will take place at Dermot’s Memorial Monument in Gorthaganny commencing at 7pm.
An address will be made by the National Chairman Jim Casey, followed by service by Canon Liam Devine P.P. V.G.
A proud Roscommon man, Dermot Earley’s senior inter-county career lasted for twenty years he won five Connacht titles, one National League, two All Star awards, however, the ultimate honour of an All-Ireland medal at senior level eluded him.
In retirement Dermot served as manager of both the Roscommon and Kildare senior inter-county teams.
In November 2016, Roscommon GAA announced that their new Centre of Excellence located in Runnabracken would be named after Dermot Earley.
