Work commences on Boyle Traffic Safety Scheme
Work has commenced ahead of schedule on the Boyle Traffic Safety Scheme.
The Scheme, which is separate to the current public realm scheme, will involve the implementation of a one-way system on the L50571 (road leading to/from Train Station) and the realignment of the junction between the L50571 and the N61 on Elphin Street.
A zebra pedestrian crossing is also to be installed on the N61, Elphin Street south of the Plunkett Home/Lorcan Egan Insurance Brokers.
Work on this part of the project will continue until approximately Friday November 1st
In November, a ‘build out’ to restrict illegal parking will be constructed on the hatched area outside Sloan’s on Main Street as part of the project, along with zebra pedestrian crossings on either end of Main Street – at Bank of Ireland and at Phillipa’s Hair Salon/Mattimoes.
The work on Main Street will take place for a period of 2-3 weeks from Monday November 4th during evening/night time to minimise disruption to businesses and road users.
Existing pedestrian crossings are also to be upgraded to current standards at Military Road, Bridge Street and The Crescent.
The overall project involves: site clearance works, footpath improvements, pedestrian lights, pavement works, other ancillary works including the provision of traffic signs, road markings, kerbs, street lighting and utility diversions.
