Victoria joins Boyle Musical Society’s production team

Boyle Musical Society is delighted to announce that well-known local choreographer Victoria Walker, is joining the Society’s production team for their forthcoming production of ‘The Sound of Music’, due to be staged in November.

Victoria says “I am so excited to have been offered the opportunity to choreograph for this year’s musical.” “The Sound of Music’ is particularly special to me because it’s the reason I went into the performing arts world from a young age.” “Julie Andrews is my biggest idol and the inspiration that started me singing and dancing, walking to primary school swinging my guitar and violin, thinking I was Maria von Trapp!”

Victoria has an impressive CV and started dancing at the age of 2 ½. By the age of 12 she had gained a place at the full-time dance training school, Elmhurst Ballet School in England. She then went on to musical theatre college at Laine Theatre Arts from where she graduated with her professional dance and performing arts diploma, as well as her first teaching qualification. She went on to perform all over the world, taking part in ‘Grease’, ‘The Rocky Horror Show’ and ‘Tanz de Vampira’ to name a few. Along the way she graduated from Middlesex University with a BAHons Professional Practice in Dance and Performance.

Victoria’s parents moved to Ireland when she was 15 and she remembers her Dad going to one of Boyle Musical Society’s productions and telling her how fabulous it was.

Victoria moved here in 2010 to spread her experiences and profession in her new community and open her own dance school, Victoria Walker Dance. It is now going into its 15th year and she teaches various styles of dance and performing arts, aiming to offer the students everything it can. She continues to expand on her teaching qualifications through regular CPD and she has choreographed various shows and productions including the ‘Nutcracker’, ‘Strictly Come Dancing’. One of her sayings is “Climb every mountain” and she now lives on one, near Boyle! She is married to local Boyle man Kieran Supple and has 3 children and a few animals!

Victoria says that she can’t wait to be on board with Vivienne and Anne and meet all the cast members, both new and existing, adding “Here’s to a wonderful run full of fun and our favourite things!”

Rehearsals for ‘The Sound of Music’ will start on Monday, September 2nd at 8pm in St. Joseph’s Hall.
