Two Status Yellow weather warnings will come into place from Wednesday night.
A low temperature/ice warning for all of Ireland commences at 8pm tonight (Wednesday) and will remain in place until 10am Thursday 7th. Met Eireann predict it will become very cold with minima widely falling to -3 or -4 degrees Celsius.
In addition, a snow/ice warning comes into place at 11pm tonight when snow and ice will lead to treacherous conditions. Some accumulations possible. This warning remains in place until Thursday at 11am.
An Garda Siochana and Local Authorities are advising motorists to drive with care tomorrow Thursday due to the freezing temperatures, snow and ice.
It will be Sunday before daytime temperatures recover somewhat.
