The eastbound and part of the westbound carriageway of the N4 at Rathdiveen, close to the entrance to Lough Key Forest Park, was blocked for a period of time on Tuesday following a two car road traffic collision.
The accident took place shortly after 12.30pm.
Boyle Fire Service, Gardai and the Ambulance Service were in attendance.
A contra flow system was put in place to ensure traffic moved freely.
The cars were removed from the scene shortly after 1.30pm.
The condition of those injured is not known at this time.
