The Hunchback of Notre Damn in King House
Live@culturalquarter continues this Saturday with a live original music score especially composed for the iconic silent film version of The Hunchback of Notre Dame from 1923.
It will be staged in King House On Saturday June 11th at 8pm.
This version of The Hunchback was last performed to great acclaim and a standing ovation at the Blackrock Film Festival in 2019.
Adapted from Victor Hugo’s 1831 novel, the 1923 silent movie stars Lon Cheney as Quasimodo and is famous for its beautiful set pieces of medieval Paris and for Cheney’s grotesque makeup and amazing stunt work.
Featuring the soulful voice of singer Mandi Frankham, the fiddle and viola of Cliodhna Quinlan and Mark Murphy on piano the music and visuals of this beautiful film will create a very special night out that is not to be missed.
Enjoy this beautiful classic old film with live music and an original score that draws its inspiration from the songs and poems of the original novel and of music of the time. It will be an evening of betrayal, love, jealousy, a beautiful dancer and a deformed bell ringer with a pure heart. At the centre of it all is the stunning Notre Dame and its bells.
