The Boyle’d Pot 11/04/’25

Eleven days until Council decide on Aldi application
The progress indicator on the Aldi development proposed for St. Patrick Street in Boyle currently stands at 80% with only the 5 submissions mentioned here last week still visible on the file. The decision to grant permission now lies with the planning authority who are due to give a decision on Tuesday week April 22nd.
Following the announcement here in the Boyle’d Pot last week of the submissions, certain Facebook pages (not Boyletoday) facilitated the publication of defamatory and outrageous comments in relation to those who have submitted submissions, and in relation to the town in general. Having people brand Boyle “a town of objectors” is totally incorrect and misleading. There are so many in Boyle who want this development, and many other developments to go ahead, that painting everyone with the same brush with generalised comments like that is not fair and is in fact damaging for the town. Likewise, one has to wonder why those who refer online to Boyle as a s**thole are still living here? If the town is that bad, why don’t those people move somewhere else or get involved in the numerous organisations around Boyle who are doing their best to make the town a better place and use their energy that way and not by typing rubbish on a keyboard.

Those who have faith in Boyle will be rewarded
There are so many who have so much faith in their town that they are continually investing in their business and with the passage of time, those people will hopefully be rewarded. Once such business is Boyle Dental (the former Dr. Tom Boland’s practice) who have commenced a major renovation of their building – both inside and out. The work will last all this year but the end result will be a modern and comfortable dental clinic. According to Boyle Dental “This project has been 2.5 years in the making and we are very excited to finally be making progress.
We will be operating as best as possible during the renovation works but patients should expect some disruption to schedule, as well as general noise during appointments, that you would expect from an active building site”. Well done to Boyle Dental and all the other businesses who have plans for renovations and upgrades and to those who are hoping to open in our town in the coming months

And finally….!
Every night, Harry goes out drinking. And every night, his wife, Louise, yells at him.
One day, one of Louise’s friends suggests that she try a different tack.
“Welcome him home with a kiss and some loving words,” she says. “He might change his ways.”
That night, Harry stumbles back home as usual.
But instead of berating him, Louise helps him into an easy chair, puts his feet up on the chsir, removes his shoes and gently massages his neck.
“It’s late,” she whispers. “I think we should go upstairs to bed now, don’t you?”
“Might as well,” says Harry. “I’d probably get in trouble if I went home.”
