With this weekend’s Darkness into Light walk cancelled, a substitute event will take place at 5.30am on Saturday May 9th titled the ‘Sunrise Appeal’.
Boyle Darkness into Light committee said: “We would like to invite everyone to show community and solidarity with those impacted by suicide by getting up at 5:30am on 9th May to watch the sunrise from their homes. Please spread our message and offer hope by wearing a Darkness into Light t-shirt, or anything yellow, and sharing your sunrise moment using #DILSunriseAppeal #DIL2020. Without the funds raised by this event, all of Pieta’s services are now facing an immediate and devastating financial crisis. More than 80% of Pietas funds come from the public, and we need you to help us today to keep our lifesaving services available to those who need them most, especially during these darkest days”.

In addition, Boyle DIL committee will be selling T-Shirts (€5) today Friday from 1-2pm on the Crescent. People will be able to pull up and stay in their cars and purchase their t-shirt without any contact.
Finally the committee ask people to decorate their window or leave a candle on before getting up at 5:30am on the 9th of May to watch the sunrise from their homes and sharing their photographs on social media.
