‘Songs for Midsummer and for Tommy’ on Sunday

An evening of song and music with a number of combined choirs will be held in St. Joseph’s Church Boyle on Sunday May 28th.

Titled “Songs for Midsummer and for Tommy’, the event will raise funds for the Tommy Simon Care Fund and Mayo Roscommon Hospice in memory of the late Frankie Simon.

On the night, St. Joseph’s Church Choir, Boyle and St. Mary’s Church Choir, Carrick on Shannon along with guests Matt McGranahan, fiddle, Ann Houston, celo and students from Abbey Community College will come together to perform.

The late Frankie Simon was a treasured member of both choirs before his sad passing in October 2022.

Audiences can look forward to an enjoyable evening and a variety of music as the choirs sing music by Handel, Mozart, Rutter, Shaun Davey, Willy Russell, Ben E. King, Frankie Simon and more.

The concert is the final event in the Roscommon Bealtaine Festival Programme which has seen a variety of events taking place around the county during the month of May – celebrating the arts and creativity as we age.

Tickets at €10 are available from choir members and the Tommy Simon Care Fund committee and will be available at the door on the night.
