A large number of fire brigade personnel attended a major forest fire near Ballinamore in Co. Leitrim on Monday.
Smoke from the fire was visible from the north east of Boyle on Monday evening as a strong easterly wind fanned the flames.
The fire was on ‘Dun Mountain’ near Aughnasheelin on Sliabh an Iarainn.
A helicopter assisted at the scene using a ‘bambi bucket’ to scoop water from a nearby lake.
Meanwhile a bog fire on Float Bog near Ballaghaderreen on Monday was brought under control.
