Roscommon County Council update

In line with the new COVID 19 measures and directions, the public offices of Roscommon County Council are now closed since Monday 30th March.

During this closure the following essential services will be delivered within the HSE and Government guidelines.

A new dedicated community support helpline number was also launched on Tuesday by the Council to advise members of the public on where they can access supports and assistance in their local community during the Covid-19 crisis.

The helpline number is 1800 200 727.

WATER
Water Services will continue to ensure there is a quality water and wastewater service provided throughout the county on behalf of Irish Water. Water and wastewater testing and monitoring service will be carried out as normal. For updates on water services, please see www.water.ie or phone 1850 278278.

FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES
Fire Stations at Roscommon, Ballaghaderreen, Boyle, Elphin & Strokestown will continue to respond to emergency calls via the 999/112 system. Fire Safety Certificates and Disability Access Certificates will continue to be accepted by post. The Building Control Management System (BCMS) will remain available for the digital submission of Commencement Notices/ 7 day notices and Compliance on Completion Certificates (CCC’s).
Roscommon Civil Defence will assist the HSE as the primary lead agency in this crisis.

HOUSING
There will be a limited service in relation to housing matters.

ROADS
Emergency callouts, winter maintenance and Public Lighting/Traffic lights works will operate as normal.

ENVIRONMENT
Environmental complaints maybe notified by phone or email. Photographs and location should be included where possible. Appropriate action will be taken to combat the spread of the Covid-19 virus. Civic Amenity sites are currently operational as normal in Roscommon, Ballaghaderreen, Castlerea and Boyle. The bulky goods recycling service for couch, armchair, mattress and divan base bed etc. is suspended at this time. Report full/overflowing bring banks in order that they can be serviced.

COMMUNITY FACILITIES
Currently all outdoor recreational facilities with the exception of playgrounds, remain open to the public. Only use these facilities if within 2 kilometres of your home, but please make sure to keep a 2 metre distance from others. Closure of playgrounds throughout the county will protect the young against the spread of the virus.
