Rescue 112 in Boyle emergency
Air Corps helicopter call sign Rescue 112 was called into service in Boyle Friday morning.
After circling the town for a period of time, the Augusta Westland 139 landed in the Abbey College field.
A HSE ambulance arrived a short time later and a patient was transferred to the waiting helicopter for transportation to hospital.
Rescue 112 is based in Custume Barracks in Athlone and provides patients who suffer serious trauma in rural Ireland, access to advanced levels of care along with rapid access to a number of major hospitals throughout the country.
