Presentations to Sisters of Mercy
A capacity crowd filled St. Joseph’s Hall on Saturday night to honour the Sisters of Mercy who will break a 142 year link with Boyle when they leave the Convent in Abbeytown on Friday.
A special Mass of Thanksgiving was held earlier in St. Joseph’s Church.
Members of the Mercy Order from around the country joined with local people in the Hall to thank the Sisters for their service to Boyle and it’s community.
The evening was organised by the Parish Pastoral Council, whose members Breege Donoghue and Irene Madden, along with Canon Gerry and Fr John, made presentations to the five remaining Sisters.
Boyletoday.com photographs show Sr. Richard Dufficy, Sr. Mary Cuddy, Sr. Mary Theresa Killilea, Sr. Mary Devine and Sr. Mary McDermott receiving their presentations.
Below are also a number of photographs of Sisters who were part of the order in Boyle over the years.
