CAPTAINS PRIZE – Mark Whelan’s Captain’s Prize to the men was held on Sunday the 18th of August with a very strong field taking part. The events of the weekend had already commenced with a very successful and social Captain’s Scramble on the Friday evening with its own presentation afterwards. On the day of the main event itself the weather roulette of Summer 2024 was favourable and the competition was played under clear skies with ground conditions that improved throughout the day but with greens becoming increasingly slick as they dried out.
The winner of the men’s Captains Prize for 2024 was Paul Brown. Paul was the leading contender after the first 18 holes and held his lead all the way through the 9 hole playoff, holding off the formidable challenge of Enda Smith. The presentation of prizes was held in the clubhouse shortly after the conclusion of the playoff. Mark congratulated all the winners and thanked several members who had contributed their time and efforts to the club during the year.
The Captains Prize to the Ladies was competed for on the previous weekend and they also received their prizes at the presentation on Captains Day.
