South Roscommon councillor Paddy Kilduff is the new Cathaoirleach of Roscommon County Council.
Cllr Kilduff takes over from Boyle’s John Cummins as Cathaoirleach and will serve for a twelve month term.
The Fianna Fail man was elected by ten votes to seven at the annual general meeting of the council which was held on Monday afternoon.
His Fianna Fail colleague John Keogh abstained from the vote citing “a matter of principle” as his reason.
