Over 800 participate in Boyle walk
Over 800 people took to the streets of Boyle on Saturday morning at exactly 4.15am for the Boyle Darkness into Light walk.
After months of behind the scenes preparation by a loyal band of volunteers, the morning held dry and cold for what was deemed a very successful event.
The large gathering was addressed by Melissa Doohan Beirne on behalf of the organising committee and Sean O’ Connor, Chairman of Pieta House.
Sean referred to Boyle as his ‘adopted town’ and said he could have attended the large event in the Phoenix Park in his position of Chairman but choose Boyle instead.
The route along the Abbeytown, Maple Drive, Carrick Road circuit was lit up by volunteers and home owners with candles which made for a spectacular sight.
Following the walk, refreshments were provided in st. Joseph’s Hall.
Many who completed the Darkness into Light walk went on the participate in the parkrun later on saturday morning.
