No relocation to Boyle office
Speculation in recent months that one if not two Roscommon County Council office functions were to relocate to Boyle has not materialised with word that the Roscommon County Manager Frank Dawson has confirmed that the council area offices in Castlerea, Ballaghadereen and Strokestown will be retained.
Under the Local Government reform, it was proposed that just 3 of the current 6 area offices in the county would remain open – in the three new municipal areas.
This would have meant the closure of the area offices in Castlerea, Ballaghadereen and Strokestown, and the staff at these offices would be centralised in various locations in Co. Roscommon including Boyle.
However following a campaign involving a number of councillors, the Roscommon County Manager Frank Dawson has now announced that all 6 area offices will now be retained.
