New ‘Electric Cave’ stage for Night and Day Festival

This June’s Night and Day in Boyle’s Lough Key Forest Park has announced the addition of a new ‘Electric Cave’ stage.
Perched on the embankment overlooking Lough Key, the Electric Cave stage will feature traditional, folk, country and roots artists.
Curated by two veterans of the Irish music scene Uri Kohen and David Hope, the intimate Electric Cave stage will feature a blend of artists the pair have worked with in the past, and some that they are excited to introduce to a wider audience.
Kohen founded Electric Cave Productions in 2004 and has booked hundreds of gigs across Westport and the west of Ireland. He formed the Westport Folk and Bluegrass Festival in 2007, which is now regarded as the leading bluegrass festival in Ireland and one of the genre’s main events in Europe.
Since 2018, Kohen has been concentrating in booking Irish tours for international acts, and expanding his work with the International Bluegrass Music Association.
Hope has been involved in booking gigs in his native country of Clare for more than 15 years, overseeing the rise of Clare’s longest running original music night “The White Horse Sessions” at Kenny’s Pub in Lahinch as well as helping to establish Kenny’s as one of the, if not the, most vibrant venues in the county.
Hope also has years of experience at festival booking cutting his teeth booking acts for the “Doolin Harley Bikers Festival” for two years, before being tasked with programming the “Doolin Craft Beer and Roots Festival” which ran for 5 years.
Hope also curates a second stage at the “Doolin Folk Festival” where he brought his partnership with Kenny’s “The White Horse Sessions” to be second stage and a colourful counterpoint to the more traditional main stage program and has been a highly fruitful partnership for the past ten years.
Commenting on the announcement Night and Day Festival Director Brendan Hurley said: “It’s a great privilege to have Uri and David, who have been ingrained in the Irish music scene for so long, curating the Electric Cave stage at Night and Day. The Electric Cave will bring a new dimension to the festival that we’re sure will captivate audiences for years to come,” he said.
The lineup for the Electric Cave stage will be announced next week.
Acts previously announced to play Night and Day include; José González, KT Tunstall, The Wailers, The Stunning, Lisa Hannigan, Paul Brady, Sultans of Ping, Adwaith, Fionn Regan, Daithi, Joshua Burnside, Bog Bodies, Yard, Dark Isle, DUG, Frank, Skinner, Harvest (A Tribute to Neil Young), Shark School and James Keegan.
