New Calisthenics gym installed in Pleasure Grounds
Boyle Town Team and Roscommon County Council are delighted to announce the opening of a new calisthenics ‘gym’ – an outdoor fitness space, located in the Pleasure Grounds area of Boyle, where people of all fitness levels can engage in bodyweight exercises without the need for machines or weights.
According to a spokesperson for Boyle Town team “The ‘gym’ features helpful graphics to guide new and experienced users alike, offering a functional, bodyweight-focused workout experience”.
“Situated adjacent to the existing outdoor fitness park, this addition brings a low-maintenance, cost-effective fitness option to Boyle’s town centre”.
“Calisthenic gym’s like this encourage community engagement, offer activities for youth and families, support tourism and the local economy, and promote overall health and wellness”.
“This project aligns perfectly with the Town Team’s focus on delivering impactful, community-centred infrastructure”.
“This year, the Town Team and Roscommon County Council also secured grant funding to reconstitute the Lawn area into a soft walking route, part of the Boyle 2040 plan’s “loop” element”.
“Additionally, funding has been acquired to renew the Pleasure Grounds’ football/tennis courts into an accessible Multi-Use Games Area”.
“Together with Boyle’s existing amenities and sports facilities, the Town Team and Roscommon Co Co aim to offer lifelong recreational opportunities for all”.
The spokesperson added “a special thanks to Outfit Training Rigs of Kiltimagh, Colm Kelly from Roscommon County Council, the dedicated Town Team volunteers, and a special mention to David Gunning, an active fitness enthusiast who played a key role from concept to funding”.
Boyle Town Team would like to thank everyone involved for making this project a reality.
