The N5 between Frenchpark and Ballaghaderreen reopened last night following a serious road traffic collision at Sheepwalk.
The crash between two cars took place shortly after 6.45pm on Thursday evening.
The male driver of one of the vehicles was airlifted to Sligo University Hospital by Air Corps Rescue 112 from Custume Barracks in Athlone.
The female driver of the other vehicle received minor injuries
The road initially was reduced to one lane before being closed fully by An Garda Siochana.
It reopened following an investigation shortly after 10pm.
