Miners Way walk on Sunday
A walk will be held on Sunday 26th of January on a section of The Miners Way, Historical Trail from near Ballinafad to Castlebaldwin and will include a spur of about 3 km off the Trail to visit the megalithic tombs of Carrowkeel on the Bricklieve Mountains.
The walk includes mountain paths, bog roads and quite country roads. Participants will meet in McDermott’s pub car park in Castlebaldwin at 1.30pm.
The walk is about 12 Km in length in total and will take about three and a half hours. This is a five star walk both in terms of scenery and adjacent historical heritage. Walking boots are essential and walkers are advised to bring along a rain jacket, snack and a mobile phone. There will be a short break about half way through the walk.
