Lough Key Sportive a great success
The sun shone brightly for the 4th annual Lough Key Classic cycling sportive which was held in Boyle on Sunday.
Over 180 cyclists from all over Ireland took part in the event with some travelling from Westport, Offaly and Dublin.
There were three distances on offer with the largest group taking on the challenging 115k which included 980 meters of climbing. also on offer was 70k and 33k distances.
All who participated were once again loud in their praise of the scenery around Boyle and the warm welcome they received from everyone.
Chairman of the organisers of the sportive – Curlieu Wheelers Cycling Club, Eddie Conroy thanked all who made the event possible with special mention to the marshals, those who provided food, Tommy Egan and staff at King House and Boyle Gardai who were of tremendous assistance in ensuring the event was run safely.
Eddie also thanked the ladies at registration and the catering committee who provide top class food at King House and again in the Sports Complex.
Special mention also to Kieran Roddy and team for the hot food at finish.
