The Boyle Local Electoral Area has the highest uptake of Covid-19 vaccines in the county.
Data from the Central Statistics Office show that up to the 17th November 2021, 90-92% of the over 12’s in the Boyle LEA have received a vaccination.
In the Roscommon LEA the figure is 90%, while in the Athlone LEA it is between 86-88%
In the Carrick on Shannon LEA, 88-90% of the adult population have received a vaccine.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Stephen Donnelly has announced that the booster vaccine regime is to be ramped up significantly in a bid to stop the nation’s hospitals becoming overwhelmed by the Omicron variant.
People in their 40s will start to receive the date for their jab next week, with the actual vaccination happening another week later.
