Renewed appeal on Carrick assault

Carrick on Shannon Gardai have renewed their appeal for information on an assault in the town last weekend which left a man in a critical condition.

Gardai received a call shortly before 4am on Sunday morning to say a man was lying on the Main Street in the Leitrim town.

When Gardai arrived at the scene they found an unresponsive man lying on the road. The man was taken to Sligo University Hospital by ambulance and subsequently transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin where his condition remains critical.

Gardai say the incident occurred before 4am on Main Street, near the junction of Bridge Street.

They have interviewed a number of witnesses and viewed CCTV covering the area.

Gardai are now renewing their appeal for witnesses, in particular anyone who was in the Main Street/Bridge Street area between 3.45am-4.45am or taxi operators who may have picked up a group of young people between 4am-4.15am to contact them.
