Garda bike training in Forest Park
Members of An Garda Siochana from the Castlerea District will complete the final test in their Mountain Bike training on Friday in Boyle.
Two members from Boyle station are among the twelve members who are currently undertaking training in mountain bike techniques.
The group are in Lough Key Forest Park today Thursday training in off road cycling.
Should they successfully complete the course, there will then be four Gardai attached to Boyle station proficient in bike patrols.
Speaking to Boyletoday.com ahead of the final test, Superintendent Seamus Boyle who is in charge of the Castlerea District said the training will allow the Gardai patrol neighbourhoods and to engage better with the public.
” It is a vital part of our policing plan that we interact with the public and no better way to do so than on a bike” according to Superintendent Boyle.
The ten Gardai and two Sergeants will conclude their training tomorrow Friday.
