Fire Service may ballot on changes
Industrial action could be looming in Roscommon Fire Service with members reportedly ready to ballot over any attempts to reduce numbers and stations.
It is understood that there are plans nationally to reduce the number of members on appliances from six to five and also reduce the number of stations in operation.
Members in Roscommon may soon ballot on these proposals.
Currently there are 55 retained fire fighters in the county and six stations in Boyle, Roscommon, Elphin, Ballaghaderreen, Castlerea and Strokestown.
