Fire damages apartment in Boyle
There were no reported injuries following last night’s fire at an apartment in Boyle.
Boyle Fire Service received a call shortly before 10pm of a fire in a first floor apartment at Riverside just off Military Road in the town.
Two units of Boyle Fire Service attended along with a unit from Carrick on Shannon.
It is understood the apartment was unoccupied at the time and members of Boyle Fire Service forced entry to allow a breathing apparatus crew to conduct a search of the apartment, while other firefighters brought the fire, which mainly caused smoke damage, under control.
A number of residents in the apartment block were evacuated during the incident.
One resident, who contacted Boyletoday.com overnight, thanked the local Gardai and Fire Service for their quick action adding “We are safe by the grace of God”.
Gardai and fire personnel are continuing their investigations into the cause of the fire.
