€400k for Boyle cycle path
Roscommon/South Leitrim TD, Frank Feighan, has warmly welcomed the approval of €400,000 in Government funding to develop the Boyle-Lough Key Greenway project.
“I am delighted to confirm €400,000 in funding to develop this major tourism project, full details of which will be announced later today by Public Transport Minister, Alan Kelly.
“It’s clear that Roscommon County Council and all the stakeholders in this project are being justly rewarded for their efforts in expediting the plans for this cycleway/walkway route.
“The route will capitalise on the tourism potential of Boyle’s attractions while linking the town with the county’s flagship tourist facility at Lough Key Forest & Activity Park.
“Developing this greenway will be of major benefit to local economies in Boyle and surrounding areas in North Roscommon and I have constantly highlighted the massive tourism potential of national walking and cycling networks.
“This leisure market is a key target area for this Government in terms of creating jobs in the regions and I am delighted I have been able to help secure this significant funding.
