€240k for county’s water schemes
€240,000 is being provided to Roscommon County Council for rural group water schemes in the county in 2018.
The announcement was made on Thursday by Minister for Housing, Planning & Local Government, Eoghan Murphy.
In welcoming the announcement, Senator Frank Feighan said “Today’s announcement is great news for local communities. This funding is aimed primarily towards the improvement of water quality in existing group water schemes in Roscommon and upgrading and water conservation works in group water scheme distribution networks.
“Funding is also provided towards new group water and sewerage schemes. These new schemes enable rural households to have a supply of good quality piped water for the first time.
“The allocation of €240,000 is being provided to Roscommon County Council, which will be responsible for the administration of the programme.
“The allocation announced for Roscommon today is significant news and will ensure that more people have access to a good quality piped water supply in their houses.”
