Recently elected Councillor for the new Boyle/Ballaghaderreen municipal district – Cootehall’s Rachel Doherty has said she will not be contesting the forthcoming Roscommon/South Leitrim by election.
The election will take place to fill the vacancy left by Castlerea’s Luke Flanagan who is now an M.E.P.
Boyle Councillor John Cummins has previously stated that he will not put his name forward for the by election.
The Fianna Fail convention to select a candidate is scheduled to take place on July 23rd.
