Cycling season draws to a close
Saturday last a large number of Boyle cyclists travelled to Leitrim to participate in one of the best organised and most enjoyable sportives of the year.
The “Pure Mule” 100k and 60k commenced in Leitrim village and skirted Boyle before looping back to Drumshanbo in advance of the testing Sliabh an Iarainn climb via Ballinaglera.
Organised by Carrick on Shannon Gardai led by Curlieu Wheelers club treasurer Brian McMahon, the event was held to raise funds for suicide awareness.
With the best of food, marshaling and organisation, it is hoped that “Pure Mule” will become a regular on the cycling calendar.
Apart from the Geevagh cycle in November, the curtain has now come down on the sportive element of the season for the Curlieu Wheelers club.
But the weekly spins will continue on Sunday’s for the winter, initially at 9am from the Crescent.
More details later this week.
