The upgrading of the N5 took another step forward this week with the publication in the Roscommon People newspaper of a 34 page Compulsory Purchase Order for the Ballaghaderreen to Scramogue proposed road development.
The project will consist of 33.4k of single carriageway to include 5 new roundabouts in Frenchpark, N61 between Tulsk and Elphin, Shankill, Strokestown and Kildallogue.
It will also consist of 3 road under bridges, 1 overbridge, 4 river bridges and 14 culverts, 9 accomodation underpasses and reconfiguration 15k of adjacent roads.
Over 600 parcels of land owned by 326 different landowners are included in the CPO.
It could take most of 2018 to get planning in order for the development to move to the next stage.
