Concern at Colour Run entry fee
The holding of last weekend’s Roscommon Colour Run on a “commercial basis only” has come in for criticism from some participants.
One person whose family took part contacted the organisers and was told that while last year’s event was “for Aware” this year the event was run “on a commercial basis only.”
The early bird entry for the Colour Run was listed on Eventbrite as €17.50 for an adult, €9 for a child (accompanied by an adult), €12 for teenager/student/over 65 and €65 for a family.
When contacted by the participant, the organisers said that while prices were cheaper than last year, there was no mention of any charity beneficiary on either their facebook page, ticket or signage.
They also said people are free to fundraise if they wish to do so at the colour runs- but this is something that would need to arrange directly with the charity of choice.
Another participant who contacted Boyeltoday.com said they assumed the admission fee was “that price as a donation was going to a charity like before”.
“If we had known it was only being run on a commercial basis, it is doubtful we would have paid that price”
There was no response from the organisers for comment on the matter when contacted by Boyletoday.com.
