Castlerea man Cllr Paschal Fitzmaurice has said he will contest the next general election in the constituency.
He could be joined by another Castlerea man Dr Keith Swanick who has also indicated his interest in putting his name forward for Fianna Fail.
Councillor Eugene Murphy and newcomer Alan Kelly have so far declared for the party.
Councillor Fitzmaurice said the decision of Frank Feighan not to stand for election has contributed to his decision.
