Are social welfare payment rates changing in 2024?
In January 2024, the maximum rate of all weekly social welfare payments will increase by €12, with proportional increases for qualified adults and people on reduced rates of payment. This also includes people on Community Employment (CE), Tús and Rural Social Scheme.
The weekly rate for a qualified child will also increase by €4. For children under 12, it will increase from €42 to €46. For children 12 or over, it will increase from €50 to €54.
Are there any other social welfare changes in January 2024?
The income limits for people getting the Working Family Payment will increase by €54 across all family sizes from January 2024. So, if you have one child, your weekly income limit will increase from €591 to €645.
The monthly rate of Domiciliary Care Allowance will increase by €10, to €340 per month.
Will any more once-off lump sums be paid?
A once-off double week for all weekly qualifying social welfare payments will be paid in the week beginning 29 January 2024. Payments that qualify for the Christmas Bonus will qualify for the once-off double week.
