Boyletoday.com photograph shows local man Martin Mullen presenting a cheque this week for €1,353 to Mags Ryan representing MS Ireland.
The money was raised by Martin when he completed the Clonakilty Waterfront Marathon last November.
Martin explained: “I joined Boyle Athletics Club when it founded in October 2018 and really enjoy the running sessions/training every Tuesday and Thursday night”.
“Within 6 months I set myself a goal of completing a marathon before the end of 2019. Unfortunately for me Dublin City Marathon was booked out so I looked up alternatives and that’s when I came across the Clonakilty Waterfront Marathon”.
“So on Saturday 30th November 2019 I took on the challenge of the Clonakilty Waterfront Marathon and decided to set up a GoFundMe Page to run it in aid of MS Ireland. I picked this charity as a member of my family has Multiple Sclerosis so it’s a charity close to my heart”.
“I completed the marathon (26.2 miles) in a respectable time of 4hr 34mins and I am delighted to say I raised €1,353 in doing so”.
“I would like to thank everyone who contributed in helping me raise this money for a wonderful charity” concluded Martin.
