Boyle sports clubs to share grant aid of €302,245

Three Boyle sports clubs are to receive grants totalling €302,245 under the Community Sport Facilities Fund, formerly the Sports Capital and Equipment Programme.

The largest recipient of funding, which was announced on Tuesday night, is Boyle Celtic who will receive €186,869 towards their Dressing Rooms. Boyle GAA club is to get €88,857 towards Gym refurbishment and equipment, CCTV and pitch upgrade while Boyle Community Tennis Association will receive €26,519 towards “future proofing.”

Nationwide, 1,996 grants have been announced, to a total value of €230m for new and improved sports facilities and equipment throughout the country.

Deputy Frank Feighan has welcomed the allocations to local clubs in the Boyle and North Roscommon area which will be used for improvements to infrastructure such as improving playing and training facilities, astro-turfs, handball alleys, walking tracks, and floodlights.

“It’s fantastic to see a huge variety of clubs in the North Roscommon area receiving funding and will come as a major boost to members. Our local clubs are at the heart of our communities and any help they receive is a great source of support to local teams and sportspeople and a boost for participation in sport”, he concluded.

Other clubs in the area who have been successful in securing funding include:

  • Ballyfarnon Community Group – Replace our disabled access & heating system €16,175
  • Carrick Town AFC – Upgrade of facilities/equipment at Carrick Town FC €23,639
  • Shannon Gaels GAA Club – Artificial Playing Surface Development €145,343
  • St Croans GAA club – Lighting, solar panels and mower St Croan’s GAA €157,744
  • St Michaels GAA Club – install LED lights security fencing robot mower €116,412.
  • St Nathy’s College – St. Nathy’s College Pitch Drainage €25,200
  • St Peters FC – Project 2: Club House Upgrades & Equipment €94,677
  • St Ronans GAA Club – Provide inclusive and accessible facilities €84,069.
