Boyle Show to receive €7k grant

Boyle Summer Show has received €7000 to help stage the 2018 event.

The news has been welcomed by Senator Frank Feighan who has said €35,000 has been granted to the five agricultural shows which take place across the county every year.

“Castlerea, Elphin, Roscommon, Strokestown along with Boyle Summer Show will receive  €7,000 each to help with the staging of their event next year. This funding is part of a national allocation of €812,000 by the Minister for Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring, which will benefit agricultural shows throughout the country in 2018.

“Agricultural shows are hugely important to the rural economy. We know the economic benefit they bring to our local economy here in the county, with surrounding towns and villages benefitting hugely from each show.

“The Government considers this funding an important investment in rural communities and I am delighted that my colleague Minister Ring has granted this funding for the five shows.

“This funding allocation takes into account the fact that smaller shows have particularly struggled in recent years. This funding will be a great boost to these events and I commend the dedicated volunteers who work so hard on making the shows happen every year.”
