Boyle murder recalled in new book
A new book titled “Sentenced to Death” features the story of Boyle native Thomas Kelly.
Written by Galway teacher Colm Wallace, “Sentenced to Death,” tells the stories of thirty Irish men and women who had the death penalty imposed on them between 1923 and 1985.
The book has several Roscommon connections, including the incredible and interesting story of Boyle native Thomas Kelly who was found guilty of the murder of Patrick Henry in the town in 1935.
He would hear his death sentenced being pronounced twice but would still manage to escape the hangman by the skin of his teeth.
