Reports of Mill closure denied
Reports of the closure of Boyle Mills have been denied this week with welcome news that it is hoped manufacturing will recommence at the facility in October 2014.
In response to a query from Boyletoday.com, a spokesperson for the company said ” Boyle Mills have not closed the Mill permanently but have contracted out our feed until the end of September 2014. We have made temporary summer production layoff’s in May and it is our intention to commence manufacturing from the beginning of October 2014″.
The spokesperson also stated that they still employ a number of people in relation to the Mill with distribution and office work taking place from Boyle.
The news has been welcomed as the town prepares for job losses at the Roscommon Herald newspaper which are scheduled to take place in the coming weeks.
An announcement was made earlier this year that up to 7 positions are scheduled to be made redundant in the Roscommon Herald in August/September when the finance and production operations of the paper are taken away from Boyle after 155 years and moved to Cork.
