‘Town Centre First’ Tidy Town award for Boyle
Boyle was runner up in the ‘Town Centre First’ category in last night’s North West and West Regional Tidy Towns Awards which was held in the Knockranny House Hotel in Westport.
In attendance to receive the award were Tidy Town members Donal and Mandy O’Connor, David Green and Michael O’Meara (pictured)
The citation read: “Communities in Ireland are defined by their people and not their geography. This award is in recognition of the people and businesses who have collaborated as a community to work to improve their environment, foster civic pride and make their town a better place”.
Launching the Awards earlier this year, Minister for Rural and Community Development Heather Humphreys said: “Following on from last year’s inaugural Town Centre First Award, the category is continuing this year as an official Supervalu TidyTowns Special Award, to recognise exemplary efforts made by towns in driving forward town centre revitalisation in line with Town Centre First policy”.
