Boyle included on Beara Breifne Way
Boyle is one of the town’s listed on the Beara Breifne Way that is being marked this evening Monday 9th with the launch of a special commemorative stamp in the Abbey Hotel in Roscommon.
The final portion of the walk which includes Boyle along with many parts of Roscommon will also be launched.
The 700k walk goes from Castletownbere in Cork to North Leitrim and follows the line of the historic march of O’Sullivan Beara in 1603.
Involving over 60 community groups and twelve local walking trails from Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Offaly, Galway, Roscommon, Sligo, Leitrim and Cavan, the Beara-Breifne Way project is the largest community-based project undertaken in Ireland.
Boyle features on the ‘Lough Gara way’ portion of the trail.
This route starts in Ballaghadereen and goes onto Monasteraden, Gurteen and Boyle covering 45k.
From Boyle the route connects up with the Miners Way and onto Cavan.
The launch takes place on Monday April 9th in the Abbey Hotel in Roscommon.
