Boyle Golf Club news
Last Sunday the second 8 hole turkey voucher competition took place with the standard of scoring being exceptionally high. In first place was Paul Connolly with 22pts whose card featured birdies on the index one second hole and also on the ninth. In second was Jim Dwyer with 21pts – an impressive score which normally would be enough for top spot while in third was Liam Whyte who had the best of the 20 points to beat two other players on the same score.
The weekly winter open competition was won by Michael Rush with 19pts.
This week the winter open competition will continue (Mon-Sat), and the third of the turkey vouchers will take place next Sunday. The format for both are 8 hole stablefords with re-entry. The 7th hole remains closed due to work being carried out on that green.
The AGM of the parent club of Boyle Golf Club took place in the clubhouse last Sunday. At the meeting, the Captain for 2016 Ross Andrew vacated the seat as chairperson and was filled by his successor Gerry O’Hara. The club wishes to thank Ross for serving as Captain over the past year with distinction and wishes Gerry the best of luck and success in the role for the upcoming year.
The meeting also saw the stepping down of club treasurer Michael Gilmartin who served in this position for the past five years. The club is indebted to him for his great work to ensure the club’s finances are in a healthy position and we wish to express sincere gratitude to Michael for this.
