Boyle GAA club news

The Cooney Motors/Cooney Centra juniors are out in the Division 4 league against Kilglass Gaels on St. Patrick’s day in the Abbey Park at 11am.

The McGovern Directional Drilling Seniors are out in the next round of the Division One league versus Elphin, next Sunday March 20th, in Elphin at 2pm.

Roscommon Minors are scheduled to play Sligo in the Connacht League on Saturday March 19th, in the Abbey Park at 5pm. There is a possibility this game could be changed to Sligo for a curtain raiser to the U-21 Championship game between said counties. At the time of going to press it was unsure, please check fixtures section in the Roscommon Herald and social media for an update.

Vincent McDonagh and Michael O’Reilly were €20 winners at the most recent Club Lotto draw which was held in Clarke’s Bar. The jackpot wasn’t won and it will be at a new record level of €11,100 for next Saturday night’s draw which will be held in the Patrick’s Well. Team A will be in charge.

The Club encourages supporters to contact Club Treasurer James O’Boyle at 086 8526329 to become annual Club Lotto members and make payments by standing order.

Tickets are currently on sale for the Club’s  fundraiser — the draw for a most attractive 5 day return trip for two to New York for the Roscommon v New York Connacht Senior Football Championship. Other prizes in the draw include a 32” Nordmende Television (sponsored by Joe Simon-Home Garden and Build), a Samsung Galaxy Tab(sponsored by Trojan IT), and a Weekend Getaway Break (sponsored by Kelly’s SuperValu). Tickets are available from all committee members.

Well done to Roscommon Seniors on their great win over Donegal and the Boyle representatives: Sean Purcell, Enda and Donie Smith, Tadgh Lowe, David Casey, Fergal O’ Donnell, Stephen Bohan, Joe Sweeney and James O’Boyle.

Well done to Roscommon U-21s, including Evan McGrath on their Connacht Championship win over Galway, and good luck upcoming semi final versus Sligo.

Club Rossie tickets are now available from club officials.

Ladies Football: Well done to the U-16’s on their championship win over St. Dominics in Boyle on Sunday last. Their next game is Easter Monday versus KIlmore /Elphin.

The Senior ladies were defeated by Ballinameen in the 9-a-side league on Sunday. Their next outing is against Padraig Pearses in the 13-a-side league next Sunday March 20th, in the Abbey Park at 1pm.

Congratulations to Abbey Community College ladies junior team on winning the Connacht C championship.
