Boyle Gardai have confirmed that a body was recovered from the Boyle River on Monday morning.
A man was seen entering the water in the town centre earlier and a search operation undertaken.
The body of a male was recovered by members of Boyle Fire and Rescue Service at approximately 9.30am near the GAA training grounds on the Sligo Road.
It is understood the man is not originally from Boyle.
Gardai now await details of a post mortem examination, but foul play is not suspected.
