Boyle men help Roscrea win final
Ardcarne’s Mattie Keane and Croghan’s Michael Jordan made history on Tuesday when their school Cistercian College Roscrea won the Leinster Schools Rugby Final for the first time ever.
Mattie was a member of the senior team and Michael was on the panel of the team that beat Belvedere in the final in Donnybrook on a scoreline 18-11.
There were jubilant and emotional scenes at the final whistle as the 180 strong Offaly school accepted the cup.
They had beaten top ranking and stronger Dublin schools on their way to victory.
Another Roscommon youth David Diffley was a replacement player during the game.
The school is home to a large number of Roscommon students.
