Further €400,000 for Carrick to Lough Key Greenway

€400,000 in further funding has been announced for the Carrick-on-Shannon to Lough Key Greenway.

The Minister for Transport, Darragh O’Brien made the announcement when giving details of further development of Greenways across Ireland.

Local authorities have received details of their allocations that will allow them to progress the various projects which will connect many major tourist locations.

Roscommon Co Council have been allocated €2,295,000 under the scheme.

One project that has received a funding boost is the Carrick-on-Shannon to Lough Key, Boyle Greenway which has the potential to provide a strong transport and tourist link with benefits to both Lough Key and Carrick-on-Shannon and in turn Boyle town.

Deputy Frank Feighan has welcomed the announcement saying “I am thrilled to see a further €400,000 allocated to the Lough Key/Carrick Greenway which will further progress this project to the next stage”.

“As a TD, I will continue to monitor the progress of the Greenway and will endeavor to seek further funding to bring the project to completion”, declared Deputy Feighan.
