Public Realm road resurfacing in Boyle draws to an end
The road resurfacing element of the Boyle Public Realm project is nearing an end.
Road surfacing was completed in a six day period on Monday evening November 25th with both Bridge Street and Shop Street finished with Traffic Management removed.
The majority of Road Marking is now complete with the exception of An Rioga car park. Work commence there on Tuesday and concluded on Thursday in advance of this weekend’s King House Craft Fair.
Final surface and line marking will take place after Christmas when works have concluded on another section of the pathway along by the river walk.
The temporary Bus Stop was removed from Abbey Terrace on Thursday and Bus Operators (Local Link and Bus Eireann) have been notified of same.
ESB and Electric Skyline are continuing to install new lights and removed old poles and overhead cabling.
Chairman of Boyle Town Team Ciaran Sheering has praised all associated with the work for the professional way the resurfacing project was managed and concluded ahead of what promises to be a busy weekend in Boyle with the annual King House Craft Fair.
Meanwhile, it is understood that the Boyle Traffic Safety Scheme will not now commence in full until after Christmas.
This work involves the implementation of a one-way system on the L50571 (Railway Bridge) and the realignment of the junction between the L50571 and the N61, installation of zebra pedestrian crossings on either end of Main Street, a build out on the hatched area on Main Street and the upgrading of existing pedestrian crossings to current standards at Military Road and The Crescent.
A crossing opposite the Plunkett Home, which is part of this project has already been completed.
With free parking both on street and in the many town centre car parks, Boyle is the place to visit in the run up to Christmas.
