There was further good news for Boyle on Wednesday morning when funding of close on €1.2m was announced for the detailed design and planning stage of the highly anticipated Lough Key Masterplan.
Fáilte Ireland has approved the grant under its EU Just Transition Regenerative Tourism and Placemaking Scheme.
The EU Just Transition Fund (JTF) is a new fund created to support the regions and communities in Europe that are most negatively affected by the transition to climate neutrality and to promote socio-economic transition.
The €1.185m announced for Lough Key Forest Park is to “increased capacity and range of activities for Lough Key Forest Park” according to the announcement.
The Lough Key Masterplan is understood to be a multi million regeneration project for the Park that will see major upgrades and redevelopment of the popular tourist attraction.
Further details of the plan will be announced later.
The announcement has been welcomed by Deputy Frank Feighan and Senator Aisling Dolan.
