The Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) conducted a search operation in counties Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Roscommon, Westmeath and Cork on Thursday 18th May 2023.
The search operation was conducted by Bureau Officers supported by the Regional Armed Support Unit, Gardaí attached to Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Roscommon, Cork and Westmeath and the Revenue Customs Dog Unit.
The operation resulted in the seizure of the following:
• €59,000 cash
• Cannabis to an estimated value of €2,000
• Documentation and electronic devices
One male (40s) was arrested during the course of this operation for an offence under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977/84, as amended, and detained at a Garda station in Co. Westmeath. He has since been released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The search operation marks significant progress in an ongoing proceeds of crime investigation targeting multiple properties and land believed to be acquired with the proceeds of crime.
